How Automatic Progression Works (and How It Can Help You Stay On Top of Things)

Automatic progression automatically updates project statuses based on actions you take, keeping your data organized without manual updates.

How It Works

When you take certain actions in Roof Chief, the software recognizes what stage the project has reached and updates the status accordingly. Examples:

  • When you send a proposal to a lead, the status automatically changes from "New Lead" to "Proposal Sent"
  • When a customer signs your proposal electronically, the status moves from estimating to "Job Won"
Accessing Automatic Progression Settings
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click Account
  3. Select Info Settings
  4. Choose Job Progression
  5. Look for Automatic Status options
Default Progression Rules

Roof Chief includes standard progression rules that work for most companies:

  • New job starts as "New Lead"
  • Proposal printed or emailed becomes "Proposal Sent"
  • Signed proposals move to "Job Won"
Customizing Progression

You can modify these automatic triggers if they don't match your business process:

  • Switch progression rules to match your workflow
  • Adjust which actions trigger status changes
  • Customize the progression path for your company's needs
Benefits

Automatic progression keeps your project data current without requiring manual status updates. The software recognizes where each project stands based on your actual work, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting. The out-of-the-box settings work well for most roofing companies, but you have the flexibility to adjust them to match your specific business process.
