How to Build Reusable Proposal Templates

Roof Chief proposals are constructed using reusable text snippets that serve as building blocks, which are then assembled into complete proposal templates.

Accessing Proposal Settings
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click Proposals
  3. Start with Proposal Text and Tags
Building Blocks: Text Snippets

Text snippets are the foundation of your proposals. Each snippet can be used in multiple proposal templates. Examples of text snippets:

  • Letterhead - your company logo and address
  • Contact Info - customer details using shortcodes
  • Project Scope - work description
  • Sales Price - pricing information
Using Shortcodes in Text Snippets

Text snippets can include shortcodes (text in brackets) that automatically insert specific information:

  • [Contact Name] - customer's name
  • [Address] - property address
  • [Phone] - contact phone number These shortcodes ensure each proposal contains the correct customer information without manual entry.
Creating Proposal Templates

Templates combine multiple text snippets to create complete proposals:

  1. Go to Proposal Templates in the settings
  2. View existing templates (like "MVP Residential Re-roof")
  3. See how snippets are arranged - letterhead at top, contact info, project details, sales price
Editing Templates

You can modify templates using the editing tools:

  • Pencil icon - edit or swap out existing building blocks
  • Plus button - add new text snippets below current ones
  • Drag and rearrange snippets as needed
