How to Quickly Move Jobs on the Calendar

When weather or other factors delay your schedule, Roof Chief makes it easy to move multiple jobs at once using the timeline view and batch selection.

  1. Go to the Calendar
  2. Switch from Calendar Grid View to Timeline View
  3. Choose your preferred time frame (one week or two weeks)

The timeline shows jobs organized by:

  • Foreman (default view) - shows which crew leader is assigned to each job
  • Asset - physical resources like dump trucks that can only be on one job at a time
  • Other organizational options available in the dropdown Companies without assigned foremen can still use this feature effectively.

  1. Turn on Batch Select using the toggle
  2. Click on each job you want to move (selected jobs will be highlighted)
  3. Leave unselected any jobs you don't want to move yet
Moving Selected Jobs
  1. Click "Edit [X] Jobs" button (number shows how many jobs selected)
  2. Choose "Shift Right" from the action dropdown
  3. Select the delay period (one day, two days, three days, week, or month)
  4. Apply the action - the software will update all selected jobs The system takes a few seconds to update the database and move everything accordingly.
Handling Weekend Work

If jobs get pushed into weekends, you'll receive a warning. You have options:

  • Accept weekend work if your crew works Saturdays
  • Extend job duration by dragging the end date to accommodate the delay
  • Compress the schedule by shortening job duration to finish within weekdays
Adjusting Job Duration

You can modify how long jobs take:

  • Drag the job edges to extend or reduce duration
  • Cursor changes to an arrow when positioned correctly for resizing
  • Balance schedule between pushing to next week vs. working faster
Benefits

This feature allows quick, efficient calendar updates when dealing with rain days, equipment issues, or other scheduling disruptions. You can move multiple jobs simultaneously while maintaining crew assignments and project organization.
