How to Use the Estimate’s Update and Revert Buttons
The Update and Revert buttons in your estimate help you manage changes to calculated quantities while maintaining accurate material calculations.
Location
Find these buttons at the top of your costs section, just below any product collections.
How Revert Works
Revert always returns to the software's original calculations.
If you change any quantities manually (like increasing shingle bundles from 88 to 100), clicking Revert will restore the original calculated amount (back to 88). This applies to all products - any manual changes you've made will be erased and replaced with the software's calculations.
When to use Revert: When you want to start fresh with all original calculated quantities.
How Update Works
Update recalculates based on current measurements but keeps your manual adjustments.
If you've made manual changes to quantities (like changing shingles from 88 to 90 bundles) and then modify your measurements (like doubling the eaves measurement), clicking Update will:
- Keep your manual adjustments (shingles stay at 90, shown in green)
- Recalculate affected products based on the new measurements (linear products like gutters will update to reflect the new eaves measurement)
When to use Update: When you've made intentional quantity adjustments but need to recalculate other products based on measurement changes.
Key Difference
- Revert = Start over with all original calculations
- Update = Keep my changes but recalculate based on new measurements

Advanced Usage
This feature is particularly powerful when you need to balance custom adjustments with accurate calculations, allowing you to maintain control over specific quantities while ensuring other materials stay properly calculated.
