# Setup: Create Your Email Signature
## Your email signature goes at the bottom of the emails you send from Exterio, so every customer knows who wrote and how to reach you. You can keep more than one signature, and your default is added to new emails automatically.
### When would I use this?
- You’re setting up Exterio and want your name, title and phone on every email.
- You want a short signature for quick follow-ups and a full one for proposals.
- Your phone number or title changed.
- Your emails are going out with no signature, or the wrong one.
### Before you start
- **Every user creates their own signatures.** You don’t need Admin access.
- **Connect your email account first.** Emails from Exterio are sent through your connected Google or Microsoft account. See “Exterio How-To: How to Connect Your Google or Outlook Email and Calendar.”
- **Fill in your profile.** Signature variables pull your name, phone and email from your profile and your company name from Company Info.
### How do I open my email signatures in Exterio?
Go to **Settings** \> **My Settings** \> **My Signatures**.
### How do I create an email signature in Exterio?
Click **Create Signature**, give it a name, write the signature, and click **Create Signature**.
1. Go to **Settings** \> **My Settings** \> **My Signatures**.
2. Click **Create Signature** (or **Create Your First Signature** if you don’t have one yet).
3. Enter a **Signature Name**, like “Professional” or “Short.” Only you see the name.
4. Write your signature in **Signature Content**. Use the formatting toolbar for bold, links and line breaks.
5. Click **Create Signature**.
The button stays grayed out until you’ve entered both a name and content.
Your first signature automatically becomes your default.
### How do I set my default signature?
Click **Set as Default** on the signature you want. Your default signature is added automatically to all new emails, and it’s labeled **Default** and **All outgoing emails**.
Your other signatures show **Manual selection**. You can pick one of them while you’re writing an email.
### How do I edit or delete a signature?
Click **Edit** on a signature to change it, then click **Save Changes**. To delete a signature, click **Delete** and confirm.
You can’t delete your default signature. To remove it, set a different signature as your default first, then delete the old one.
### Tips and gotchas
- **Check your default before you send your first proposal.** Your default goes on every new email automatically. If it’s a quick “Thanks, Mike” signature, that’s what goes out with your proposal emails.
- **Keep it to four or five lines.** Name, title, company, phone. Customers read email on their phones, and a long signature with a disclaimer and three logos buries your actual message.
- **Make a second signature before deleting your only one.** Your default can’t be deleted, and your first signature is always the default. Create the replacement, set it as default, then delete the old one.
